I stayed at Excalibur this past week October 21-24 and thought it was an average place. We chose Excalibur for location and our activities planned for this trip and wasn't a location we have stayed at. We took an email upgrade offer for the Contemporary Tower room and thought it was pretty basic. Couldn't imagine what the original room looked like that we had booked. Cleanliness was 3/5 - room was okay; however, the bathroom could have had a few more details looked at. If you're looking for a dark room and avoid sunlight, then I don't recommend this room. They have curtains on 2/3 of the windows and a flip blind down the middle larger piece of the window causing light to enter the room. We didn't care for that. The largest issue I had this trip happened when I stayed at Mirage in August. On our final night we wanted to sleep in as we had a later flight and went down to the front desk and inquired about late check outs. Our group agreed to do the 3PM option $30.00 - I told the lady at the desk what happened at Mirage and that housekeeping started keying in, knocking, talking through the door prior to our approved check out time. She apologized for my experience there and told me not to worry as long as we had the do not disturb sign on the door nothing would happen. Sure enough prior to the 11AM resort check out time housekeeping made several attempts to enter the room, knocking, and calling out housekeeping. Told housekeeping we had 3PM check out. Whatever communication/reporting front desk does to housekeeping has a gap and not worth the $30.00 - our sleep was ruined; we were now awake - not worth it. Next time, I'm just going to make a sign and tape it to the front door if we ever choose to do late check out again at an MGM property. The staff/hospitality otherwise is fantastic and couldn't complain or speak negative on that aspect no matter what role/job the staff has on the property.
