After getting a mis-diagnosis of a distinct rattling under my 2003 Murano from one Nissan dealership, I took it to a second Nissan dealership Peoria Nissan. They diagnosed the problem not as "spark-knock" as said Midway Nissan, but as a broken weld on the catalytic converter heat shield. Their advice? They said they could not repair it and I should live with it or buy a new $1200 catalytic converter. I drove it with the noise for a couple of weeks before I could no longer stand it. I looked for a shop certified by radio car guru Mark Salem knowing I could trust a Mark Salem recommended shop. At Thunderbird I was helped by Tom, super friendly, super knowledgeable. We took it out on the road so he could hear the noise for himself. He put it up on the rack and decided I needed a good muffler shop that should be able to fix the problem and there was zero possibility for the need of a new catalytic converter, which he laughed at. He referred me to what he knew was a great muffler shop called Mad Hatter Muffler & Brakes. Oh yeah...NO CHARGE!
Mad Hatter fixed my noisy compromised part in 20 minutes for a charge of a whopping twenty bucks! There is no way I thought anything solving my problem would come in under a hundred dollars. There is hardly anything in life more satisfying than when something goes way way way better than you thought it would. Thanks Thunderbird. I will never again have my car serviced by Nissan. Thunderbird has earned my trust.
