I do not typically post reviews about a company however I wanted to share my experience to help others be aware of the scam this company is running with their Groupon.
I purchased a Groupon for Eleve Training Studios and am incredibly disappointed with the outcome. I purchased the option for 20 classes because I thought it would be great to go try it and see if I liked it. When I went in to redeem my Groupon the owner refused to offer me the 20 classes that were stated in the Groupon. Instead I was forced to sign up for their month to month plan and he 'discounted' the rate by the amount I paid for the Groupon. I ended up having to pay close to $100 just to be able to go there and had to sign a month to month contract to start.
After going there for a little while I decided it wasn't for me. At first I really enjoyed the classes but after awhile the class size was getting so large that there was hardly room to stretch out without worrying about touching someone else. I told the owner that I wanted to cancel and since I was only on the month to month plan I assumed I would be ok to no longer come.
I stopped going to the gym and then 9 months later I received a note from collections saying I owed $550. I contacted the owner of the gym to figure out what had happened and they said that I never sent in a certified letter stating that I wanted to cancel my month to month charges. While it may have been in tiny print in the document I had to sign when I started it was not clearly explained to me that this was required in order to stop coming to this gym and when I told the owner I wanted to cancel he never mentioned this policy to me.
I never received any communication in the mail from the owner of the company letting me know that I owed money and was just sent to collections and was blindsided by this. I am very unhappy with how this situation turned out and hope others are able to avoid this happening to them after reading about my experience.
