| - I've been coming to this location for years. Easily over a decade, and usually didn't mind that the cashier girls had no customer service skills what so ever but my last experience has provoked me to write this review.
Let me say that the women and men who work in the BACK with the outdoor plants are super duper helpful and if you can find one they will not disappoint. (They get the 2 stars). The plant selection is also pretty great and prices are much better than Lowes or Home Depot.
However, last week when I was done shopping and came to the front to pay there was one employee, already ringing someone else up, and another chatting with that employee and customer. I really didn't mind that, I wasn't in any hurry really, but the girl (not ringing) kept looking at me. She'd look at me then keep talking, look then talk. She (artificial blond) finally rolled her eyes and said she could take me at another register like it was inconvenient or something for me to want to pay. Without saying a word she rings up my plants. Tells me my total. Takes money. Gives change.
Maybe because I work in customer service/hospitality/people pleasing I'm so used to the "hey how's it going", "find everything okay?", "have a nice day" sort of chit chat so it was pretty off putting to not even get a "how are you?". Even when I thanked HER (why do I thank people for taking my money I don't know) she said nothing and walked back over to her co worker! She didn't even offer to grab me plastic for my car or for a carry out guy to grab my big bag of soil. Nada.
I'm not shy with this stuff so I said to her (while pulling my own sheet of plastic) that she needs to work on her customer service. Only then did she try and make any attempt at recovery by offering to get me a sheet of plastic (that I now already had). Both girls gave me the nastiest look as I left! Ugh, MANAGEMENT, watch these girls!
Will definitely be going out of my way to the Charleston location from now on.
