There are far too many walk in clinics in Markham. A lot of them haven't succeeded and closed down fairly quickly for various reasons, so i was a bit skeptical about trying another clinic. I first heard about the Markham Stouffville Urgent Care Centre when i had to take my oldest to Emergency at MSH with a really high fever. Last week i was hit with a really bad cold and couldn't make it out to my family doctor in Thornhill, so i had my hubby take me to this clinic Sunday morning. When i walked in it was pretty busy and there were a lot of people sitting in the waiting area and standing in line waiting to be registered. It amazed me how quickly they made it through everyone in the waiting room, sometimes calling in 1-3 people at a time. I was so congested & achy that i almost considered walking out rather than waiting to see someone. I even texted my hubby (who was waiting in the car with the kids) that it was busy and that i would probably be about 30-40 minutes. Which ended up not being the case at all! I was called in within 5-10 of arriving and looked at by one of the doctors. I was in & out of the clinic in 15 minutes with a prescription in hand. The receptionist takes note of your symptoms when you arrive & present your health card - which saves a lot of time. They are open Monday - Friday 8am to 8pm and Saturday/Sunday & holidays from 8am to 4pm. No appointment required, but they don't accept anyone 30 minutes before closing. Quick & efficient and definitely somewhere i will be going back to if i need to see a doctor immediately. Markham seems to have a lot of doctors/offices but not too many that are accepting new patients, so i'm so happy that i have the option of using the Urgent Care Centre again next time a cold hits or my hubby or kids get sick and need to see a doctor right away.
