| - As casinos go as a whole Talking Stick seems to have a lot of things to do, larger than most gaming areas and live tables and probably the biggest poker arena in AZ.
Buffet (Wandering Horse) is a great deal when it's not a special day, and lunch is extremely reasonable with a great selection. Speaking of selection, one thing I like is that in the years TS has been open, I don't think the Buffett has changed much, I like that in some way but in other ways I would like to see more experimentation.
As a hotel I loved the rooms, all rooms are spacious, decorated with modern dark wood and a Kurieg machine. The bathroom is huge with a separate huge tub and shower. One issue with rooms was that the sliding glass door to the bathroom gives no privacy at all and are about 4-6" too narrow for the opening. That's the only complaint i have on the rooms.... except for price.
For a casino their rooms jumped up 100% and are now beyond the realms of "hey let's stay at Talking Stick for a fun staycation". A few years ago I stayed Fri-Mon on July 4th weekend for $330 all in. Now it's $200+ just for a Friday night. For us townies that are just a short ride away you are priced way above the staycation price.
Parking close to the hotel/casino can be a pain. However BiG thank you to all those who have served and earned a Purple Heart. TS recently opened up Purple Heart played parking right by the doors of the casino.
Pool area is huge and really well populated with chairs, loungers, umbrellas and tables, of course there are cabanas and premium areas.
Fun night out, plenty of food and drink, bands or acts to see pricey for a stay these days.
