I still really enjoy the food here. The issue seems to be management. Arriving almost anytime during their weekend hours will mean standing packed like sardines into a tiny 'atrium' area where departing diners are trying to pay their tabs. Meanwhile, a majority of the tables will be empty.
The last time I was able to speak to the owner about this, he mentioned that he had new kitchen staff that wouldn't be able to handle the influx of orders. He's mentioned this several times before. It stands to reason that diners sitting at tables drinking coffee/water while they wait is better than having them packed into the front door - staring at empty tables and considering their other breakfast options.
It does sadden me, because the food at the price point is really spot on. It's just tough to wait 30+min to sit when there are so many exceptional brunch options in Madison. Given the simplicity of their menu, I've found that if I'm in the mood for the Egg & I, I end up cooking breakfast for us at home.
