| - This was my first visit to Bahama Breeze and I didn't know what to expect. We went on a Saturday night and the place was packed. Believe it or not, they had a 1 hour wait. But that's okay, we managed to find an empty chair in the huge foyer. Turns out that they have the best Piña Coladas ever. I had a Ultimate Piña Colada - swirled with strawberry ice and topped with Myers's Dark Rum and BJ had a couple Red Stripe beers. Yum. The wait time flew by, thanks in part to the island atmosphere and the live island music.
The host staff was great. When we were finally seated, we got a huge booth. Our server was pretty sad. I'm not sure what industry she should work in, but definitely not in the service industry. But we managed to get thru okay.
We shared a new appetizer on the menu. We got a Crab, Shrimp, Mango and Avocado Stack. It was a little stack of jumbo lump crabmeat, chilled shrimp, fresh avocados and apple-mango salsa layered and stacked; with a spicy honey-red pepper drizzle served on some frisée lettuce. The drizzle was very hot and the seafood was incredibly fresh. We loved it!
For dinner, Jim had Calypso Shrimp Linguine. It was spicy shrimp sautéed with garlic, scallions, creole spices and a touch of cream. The portion was huge and very delicious. I had the Jamaican Grilled Chicken Breast with mango glaze, served with fresh mango pineapple salsa, cinnamon mashed sweet potatoes and green beans. Very good.
For dessert, we shared a Chocolate Island. It was a chocolate mousse on a fudge brownie in a milk chocolate sauce and vanilla bean anglaise with vanilla ice cream. Very yummy.
We loved the restaurant and can't wait to visit again!
