| - Pros: Wonderful and attentive service.
We were treated like royalty by the front desk and the concierge. Bell service personnel were friendly and eager to please. The rooms are all suites at this hotel, and this is a good amount of space for the price, and therefore a good choice for groups or families. The lobby is peaceful and isolated, removed from the annoying cigarette smoke and chaos of the floor casinos. The restaurants that are in the hotel are: "Mix" and "The Cafe", which are very accessible and the closest places to eat. A mall called the "Mandalay Shops" is close by and serves as a bridge to the Luxor. We loved the modern theme. There's 1 and 1/2 baths and a TV in the bathroom, but no food network or HGTV. Free channels are limited. This place is hidden from the strip and has an introverted, toned-down, sophisticated character.
Cons: Not that sound-proof
Room service is overpriced, I think, to force one out of the room onto the casino floors. We were better-off eating out. The bathroom and furniture fixtures seemed worn and were starting to unhinge or loosen. All of the above were not deal breakers. The one thing that cost this place an additional star was inadequate sound-proofing. The floor to ceiling windows gave us great views, but we could hear everything: the wind noise, the airplanes taking off, and sirens from the street. I appreciate hotel rooms that are vault-like in silence, this one was not. If you're a heavy-sleeper, then this wouldn't be such a deal-breaker.
Overall: Great service and bang for buck for families and groups, but not for light sleepers.
