Wow... My husband and I went to to Mastro's Ocean Club to celebrate my birthday. Being from Florida we are use to fresh, delicious seafood and really looked forward to our visit as great seafood is hard to find in the desert. Our server was prompt and extremely well versed in the menu. Great beef, wagu, lots and lots of butter on everything and of course, superb, fresh seafood. OK. We decided on a sampling of the fresh oysters to start with then split a Caesar salad and both chose the wild salmon for entrees with the roasted Brussels sprouts for a vegi. The oysters were amazing, fresh and delicious. The salad was mediocre at best. The salmon was the most surprising. Dry to the bone. Seriously, a restaurant that raves about the seafood it serves but totally clueless about the proper temp to serve it is unacceptable. The sprouts were good but too much butter. For dessert we chose the pecan pie. Yikes. Grainy with a thick dry crust. Seriously. What happened to pecans floating in a delicious, gooey custard like filling.
Very dissapointed. We'll stick to Binkley's for special occasions.
