| - This place is kind of weird. It looked like it was under construction when I was there this week, and it's p grimy/dingy and fully carpeted, which skeeves me out in a medical establishment, but whatever, can't win 'em all.
The receptionist and nurse who helped me were both really sweet, and since there was only one other patient when I got there (Wednesday around noon/1 pm) my wait time to get into a room was about 10 minutes. Awesome!
Sadly, this is where the positive experience ended. I can't remember what my doctor's name was. He was a white dude in his late fifties/early 60s. I want to preface this by saying that I've got realistic expectations of walk-in doctors. I know they can be overworked and walk-in clinics are probably magnets for people who don't rly need anything but some Advil and a Halls, but I'm p medically savvy and definitely don't visit the doctor for fun (I can count on one hand the amount of times I've been told that I'm ok and to go home when I've actually gone to the doctor, and I'm almost 30 w a p long and shitty medical history), so I was coming in for a legitimate reason. Just moved back to Toronto and have no family doctor.
He walked into the room, grabbed my chart, and IMMEDIATELY looked at his watch VERY obviously without greeting or acknowledging me. Ok, not a big deal, he's keeping an eye on the time. He proceeded to say maybe 10 words the entire visit. He wrote me a referral to an OB-GYN no problem bc I directly requested one, and the clinic called me back the next day to let me know I had an appointment which is really quick, but unfortunately the guy has literally nothing but terrible reviews (missed someone's ovarian cancer, nothing but one star kind of terrible) and I'm not comfy w a male gyno, so I won't be going, but that's my choice.
As for the immediate issue of why I was there, he didn't respond to ANYTHING I said to him. I took great pains to be nice and he was totally non-responsive, he didn't ask me a single question about the issue other than if I was sexually active and insinuated that I had an STI, and then told me he had no ideas and walked out. I went back to the receptionist as directed and was told that my urinalysis would take a week?? Seems p long, considering I'm dealing w an issue that could spread to my kidneys and I've never had to wait on those kinds of tests.
I don't know, guys. I don't feel comfy w the way I was treated here, and I have reeeeeally low expectations of walk-ins. Like, "I expect to wait hours and get a rushed and harried doctor" kind of low. I'm going to a different clinic today for a second opinion since the issue hasn't cleared up, so yeah, I can't really rate this experience well. I think I may have just gotten a surly doctor, but I still feel like at least asking the patient questions should be par for the course regardless of temperament.
