The care here is unbelievable! Had to take my girl here after an ulcer on her eye refused to heal for over a month, and our regular vet referred us to Dr. Weinstein for surgery. Sure enough, she needed a grid keratotomy, but I appreciated how Dr. Weinstein suggested trying an aggressive treatment of multiple eye drops that would be much cheaper before going on to the surgery. I didn't feel like they were pushing a surgery on me to get some money. But when she did come out of the surgery, she was wearing a personalized E-collar! They took the time to put stickers on her cone! What a personal touch.
It's true they are expensive, but it's a specialty center, so what do you expect? They were very helpful in getting all of my pet insurance documents signed, sealed, and delivered in order to get some of that money back.
The only thing you have to be prepared for is that they do a lot of the diagnostic tests right in the patient room with you in there! It was intense and made me uncomfortable to see them poking and rubbing at her eye, but I get it. If the owner is in the room, the pet is more likely to stay calm. Just be prepared to be kind of grossed out!
