  • I wish I could give them 0 stars. Bought a groupon that I thought would not expire once I registered it on the Shutterfly site. Apparently I was wrong. I was advised by Groupon to contact Shutterfly and ask them to extend the expiration date of the groupon. I called their number where I got to talk to a machine that assured me that I would receive an email response to my request within 12 hours. Well over 12 hours passed with no response. I called again and this time I told the machine that I had not received an email response. The machine cheerfully informed me that I would get a response to this issue - you guessed it - by email within 12 hours. Becoming frustrated with this I looked online and found a way to contact them via chat. Very friendly rep assured me that they would extend the expiration date of the groupon and I would get 40% off. I replied that my groupon was for $40 and she apologized and confirmed that I had a $40 credit. Next day I received an email (apparently in response to my calls) telling me the promotion could not be extended but I could use the $20 I paid for the groupon. I responded that another rep had assured me I would get a $40 credit. Within 30 seconds I received an email again telling me that the promotion could not be extended. I responded asking he escalate this issue because I had received different information during my chat. Next day I received an email from a new rep apologizing for the confusion and assuring me that a $40 credit was on my account. I completed the photo-book and when I went to check out I saw a 40% credit rather than $40. The site stated that the 40 percent would be applied to the price of the item so I decided to drop the issue as the $ difference was small. Instead when I checked out it applied the $20 I paid for the groupon and then took off the 40%, which resulted in a much smaller discount. When I emailed them telling them that per their own site the 40% was to be applied to the price of the item I was told they would let management know of my concern. In other words, too bad, so sad! The whole point is not the few dollars difference, but rather that these people lie very easily and when you call them on it there is no remorse. Obviously this is how they are taught to deal with customers. By the way, there is no way to get by the machine and actually talk to someone when you call , and they keep the chat page pretty well hidden. Also, beware that as you try to check out they try to up-sell you so much that if you do all the upgrades they suggest you will quadruple the price of the photo-book. Finally, I have to say that the quality of the book is decent. I can get better quality at a similar price from Costco.
