| - I drive by this place pretty frequently but I've always been a loyal Saigon fan. Up until this weekend, my friends and I decided to branch out and try Pho Na, as it was a lot closer to my place.
I'm a huge pho aficionado, as I do occasionally make pho broth at home myself too. What I like about the pho here, is that the broth has a tinge of sweetness to it, which goes really well with the fresh thai basil and lots of green onions floating in the bowl. My friends and I had the fresh spring rolls to start, and we all agreed that the peanut dipping sauce here was more flavorful and more balanced than Saigon's hoisin peanut dipping sauce. My boyfriend ordered the fried wontons, and the portion size was very generous. I liked the wontons too, as the filling was a lot more flavorful than say, crab rangoon. It was stuffed with a ground meat and vegetable mixture, and the wonton was not too oily.
I did remove a star, because I felt like my pho did not have enough meat in it. One of my friends also agreed, and we only counted out three little slivers of meat and about one and a half beef balls each (I ordered the combo pho and he had the sliced beef and meatballs). However, the other two people in our party said that they had plenty of meat in theirs. Maybe this was a fluke, and they didn't split up the meat proportionally, but still, I expected more meat in ours.
All in all, I do like this place, and as winter's approaching, I definitely will frequent this place more for their hot, steaming bowls of pho!
