I feel 5 inches taller and I can't help but stand up straight! The Yoga Sanctuary is so lovely I can't wait to go again!
LOCATION
The studio is located in the heart of downtown and easily accessible by public transit.
STUDIO
The studio is so beautiful inside. I absolutely adored the high arched ceilings and the greenery dispersed around the room. The room was quite big and gave enough space for everyone to feel comfortable.
The only issue with the studio being so big was that
1. I couldn't see the instructor most of the time and since I was a beginner, I probably should have sat dead centre.
2. The room had a big echo and it was very difficult to hear the instructor (she spoke super fast too). I think however that if I was regular, I wouldn't necessarily need to know exactly everything that she was saying. But since I was new, it really was hard to follow instructions.
INJURIES?
This was my first yoga class and I informed the teacher. She was very nice and calmed my nerves.
I don't know if I got injured but let me tell you what happened. Before the relaxation part of the class, my back was killing me. I don't know if it was normal or whether I had overextended myself but I couldn't even lie down without it hurting. And then the teacher said "if your back hurts, put your knees up" and so I did and she gave me a pillow and it completely relieved my back pain instantly. I was then able to proceed with the relaxation part of the class.
I thought I was cured from the back pain but when I woke up the next day, my back was still aching. Did I injure myself? not sure but I think I would have liked the teacher to have corrected my poses since I was a beginner.
COST
The cost of the session is $10 and if you don't have a mat, it's an additional $1. The mats were kind of worn out but for $1, I guess I shouldn't expect more. The prices seem pretty reasonable for an hour and 15 minute class.
