| - Since the rates were similar, I was expecting about the same quality of rooms as the hotel on the other side of the I-90. My sweetie was somewhat dubious, as there's a place with a similar name (but not part of this chain) in her town, and it's notoriously bad.
What a pleasant surprise! The furnishings and decoration were definitely a cut above. I was really impressed. Both rooms were clean, nicely furnished, and quiet.
No room service, of course, but it's tucked right behind a Burger King. Not exactly fine dining, I grant you, but at least it's convenient and you know what you're going to get.
The soap smelled kind of like the kind of thing that my sister would give me for Christmas when she worked at the Body Shop. I think it was oatmeal and thyme. (A little odd, but not unpleasant.)
(And no, I'm not really obsessed with soap. I just know what I like. Unfortunately, they haven't made my favourite soap [Lifebuoy] since 2002, so I'm kind of stuck with whatever people put out.)
Two oddities: First, for some reason, the door on my room was really sticky, and required a good deal of force to open. (This was not the case in my sweetie's room.) Second, because Broadmoor Road (aka Route 306) is divided directly in front of the hotel/Burger King, you can't turn left and head North into Mentor, but instead have to take a somewhat meandering route via Kirtland Road. But if you drive South through the big parking lot beside the Burger King, and take the exit across the street from the gas station, then you CAN turn left onto Broadmoor Road/Route 306 and head North.
