| - Ugh, what a terrible experience!
Ok, so for starters, the pricing on their website is extremely misleading and I feel it's done purposefully to get people in so they can bait and switch. I went to the website to look for a coupon to get an oil change. I normally go to the Cobblestone Auto Spa on Alma School and Germann in Chandler but thought they were somewhat overpriced so I wanted to check elsewhere. I went to their website and saw a coupon for $5.00 off "upgraded" oil which was regularly $54.99. Sounds great, right? Well the key word there is upgraded. I assumed upgraded meant synthetic and was expecting to pay $49.99 for a synthetic oil change. Well, turns out they were crafty with their working because upgraded didn't mean synthetic. When I got there the price jumped $20.00 to $74.99 for a synthetic oil change and it turns out that the $54.99 was for a synthetic blend (which is usually half conventional and half synthetic). This is ridiculously overpriced because I could have gone to AAMCO and gotten the same type of oil for $21.99. I should have went to Cobblestone because the pricing on their website is very straightforward: "This much for conventional, this much for a blend, and this much for full synthetic." It turns out that Cobblestone's price was $67.99 for full synthetic with $5.00 off and a free full service car wash, which they usually bump up to the next level for free, based on my experience.
Here's where things got interesting. When I mentioned this to the tech doing my oil change he basically said in so many words, "Well I haven't dropped your car yet, so if you want to leave it's fine." Really dude? You're going to turn away business? The whole reason I went there was because I thought I was going to get an oil change for $49.99 and he wouldn't work with me at all. Even if he was like, "Let me see what I can do" and then came back and said, "there's nothing I can do" I would have been fine with that.
The car wash they gave me (the standard) was terrible. I wasn't too pissed about this though because it's monsoon season and it's going to just get rained on. I found it particularly funny when the agent tried to get me to detail the car. Ummm...it's monsoon season and t'storms were in the forecast for that afternoon. They try to sell you on a 5-day guarantee...because I have time for that.
This business is obviously hurting. I noticed a lot of the retail space has been emptied and most of the employees were sitting around. When I arrived they couldn't find the oil change guy...probably because he had no work all day.
I do not recommend this business and I will not be back. I'll stick to Cobblestone Auto Spa. I do not like deceptive businesses one bit.
