It's been a while since I first reviewed Urban Nails and I decided it was about time to update it.
Thing still haven't changed, I love this place. I read some of the not-so-raveing reviews that have been posted since I the first review I did on this place and I can't do anything but disagree. Actually it's pretty upsetting since I've been going here for about 2 years now and reading what people have been writing.
I'd like to set the record straight because I think the negative reviews were way over exaggerated and don't agree with them at all. Before I do that now I'm going to give my update.
I've been wearing the Brisa Gel nails for a while now and they're amazing. They look so natural and you don't even feel like you have fake nails/tips. So if it's your first time or you've been thinking of trying the Brisa Gel don't hesitate. Yes, they are a little more expensive than acrylic or regular gel nails but they don't damage your natural nails and look great. It'll be about 3-4 weeks between fills so they last longer too. Oh and Kevin does my nails but anyone can do them so you won't be disappointed.
As for the pedicures, still amazing. I've been going to Mary for them for a bit now and they last forever. Again everyone does a great job but she's the girl I prefer to go to.
Actually this is a key point... you may have to try one or two different people before you find someone you really like. Like I said everyone does a great job however you may find someone who scrubs your feet better or paints your nails in a certain way that you prefer so over time you might end up with your favs too.
Now, again a side note before I get into setting the record straight you SHOULD make an appointment. it WILL save you from having to wait 10-30min if you go in at a busy time. I won't lie to you this place gets BUSY and for good reason... it's amazing. So make an appointment!
SETTING THE RECORD STRAIGHT:
I read Joanne S' review and I thought she was for one, either having a really bad day or two, is/was over exaggerating. All I have to say to this is if you feel like something wasn't done correctly I would tell whoever is doing your nails the way you'd like it to be done. It won't offend them and actually they'd probably appreciate it because they can make your experience a pleasant one. Also, I have no idea whatsoever how your Shellac could chip in a day. 3 words... IT WON'T CHIP. Unless you are picking at it or soaking you hands in water for extended periods of time for no reason then MAYBE okay yes I can see it chipping. But let's get real here it's not possible and if it is I'd like to know how because I've never heard anything to the contrary before this. If you had a problem with the thickness of the tip you should have said something while it was being done rather than venting your frustration out on yelp. Just a thought.
As for Stephanie M's review again using words which are a little over the top. I'm more than sure Kevin did not SAW off your nails. He was probably making them even so they all looked uniformed. And as for him asking you to sit somewhere else I would have done the exact same thing. If you are doing your own nails and he has an appointment he should be taking care of his client while you do your own nails if you're so unhappy. And if he did "saw off your nails" you probably helped that too since you went ahead and did it on your own.
Regardless, these two reviews were ridiculous and not an accurate reflection of Urban Nails. As you can see many of the reviews give this place 4 or 5 stars and those are accurate. Everyone is friendly and the service is superior to other places nearby.
