Redeye from Chicago, I get home & the storm wrecked my AC. I just need to crash before the AC guy arrives between 3:00-Tuesday. I got a decent enough rate from Hotwire. This place is nothing special but close to home. I arrive 10:30ish & ready to crash. First of all, I'm charged $20 for early check in since check in is at 16:00.....& checkout tomorrow is at 10:00. What?!
Strike 1
I travel a lot and cant remember being fleeced like this, AND in my own town at that. Fine, whatever. Give me my room.
And then Im told that my king room is not available & I get downgraded to a double queen.
Strike 2.
And then the 3rd strike comes when they tell me that IM being charged $50 for incidentals & it won't be returned to my account until 5-7 days later. Every other hotel just takes a swipe of my card in case I eat any room service. But IM not charged for something I haven't bought up front.
Strike 3, you're out
Refusal to offer any concessions while downgrading my room for a ho hum place like this......they obviously have not been in the hospitality industry long or know how their competition treats their guests.
And then to top it off, somehow they find out that I routinely need 10-15 rooms, several times a year & the sales office rings me as soon as I open the door and tries getting my business...HELL NO.
I'll bet I would've been treated differently if I kept my Armani suit on and not in my soon to sleep wear.
