| - This one is for the cashier named Emi:
I'll admit, Sears has some good deals, but in all honesty, I'll NEVER shop here again thanks to Emi.
At the checkout an elder gentleman in front of us, was paying for his stuff when the cashier (her name was Emi) asked him if he'd "like to save $20.00 on his purchase today by upgrading his card to Silver status." The man asked if it was free. Emi assured him it was free. The man said ok. Emi begins the credit card application by asking the man for some very private personal identifying information (PII). The man gives her his full name and social. Mind you I CAN HEAR THIS LOUD AND CLEAR! If I wasn't a decent person, I could have easily ripped off this mans identity. Meanwhile a huge line is forming and Emi does not acknowledge it at all. She appears to have some issue getting his upgrade approved. She makes a phone call and eventually puts the man on the phone to confirm his residency status and that it's really him. Told you I could hear everything. He seemed confused as if he didn't realize she was running his credit. At this point I'm pissed. There's a huge counter in front of the cashiers that reads Customer Service yet no ones there. In a day and age where customer service is key, you can't be processing credit applications at a register. Emi didn't even bother to turn off her light on the register to indicate her line was closed until she finished the credit app. She didn't even bother to say sorry to the patient customers waiting in line. It wasn't until I got pissed that she rudely told me to go check out in the tool section.
So off to the tool section I went. I was met by a young lady who rang me up quickly. Thank god she didn't ask me about applying for the credit card, I would have screamed!
On our way out, the same people were STILL in line waiting. I informed them to check out in the tool section. As we walked out the door the gentleman that was previously filling out the credit app was right outside and he looked pissed! Apparently he didn't get approved. His wife was also chewing him out. He was obviously quite flustered by this fiasco. As we got in our car, I saw the couple speed off and quickly drive away.
In my opinion all credit card applications need to be handled at the Customer Service counter, NOT at the register!
Emi clearly tricked this elderly man into applying for an upgrade. I was there, he was confused. I'm upset for him and upset with Emi's terrible customer service.
