I've passed by this place a few times and really wanted to give them a try, so we came to Herbs & Rye on my birthday- yay! Once you walk in, you are greeted by a host, who leads you through the dimly lit bar. As we were seated, I got an opportunity to look around more take in all of the chic 1920's atmosphere, it was like being in a speakeasy. We looked through the menu for food and apps, but I could not take my eyes off of the drink area. That part of the menu was set up to show you era each cocktail was from- very cool!
Finally, we were ready to order. We got the calamari as our appetizer, which has a cherry popper aioli, prosciutto, and banana peppers. I've never had calamari with the aioli, but it was delicious- my mouth was pleasantly surprised. As our main courses, I ordered the "Flat Iron steak, medium rare, with garlic spinach." The boyfriend got a "NY Strip steak, medium rare, with Broccoli and Sharp cheese." Our food was wonderful, cooked perfectly, and seasoned well, we were satisfied.
As for our server, he did a fantastic job, he was friendly and attentive. I will be back for sure, next time I have to try the craft cocktails.
