| - I was pleased with my Groupon experience here and based on my 1st experience would likely return for future state inspections.
First, a little background info. Over a month ago I noticed that Jimmy's On-It Automotive (JOIA) was running a Groupon promotion. I'd wanted to purchase the Groupon because at the time my husband and I had been in the midst of having our vehicle registration transferred from California to Pennsylvania but I held off because I didn't like what I saw in the filtered Yelp reviews for the other/former JOIA location. Fast forward a month or so, and it was time to get our vehicle inspected in accordance with our new PA registration. Decided to take a chance on this establishment, something I rarely do if I notice questionable filtered reviews, but I've still got to deduct 1 star for the situation I just described.
Jimmy's On-It Automotive is run by a husband-wife team, and Jimmy is the husband. My first encounter with the wife (Lindsay/Lindsey) was when I called to ask questions and schedule an appointment just before purchasing the $35 Groupon. Lindsay answered all my questions adequately, and I appreciated her going above and beyond by offering up some info about the business (run by just her and her husband) and its location (behind the AAA on McKnight Road). She also told me the appointment should only take about 30 minutes, which turned out to be true and which I very much appreciated being that I stepped away from work to take care of the appointment.
Jimmy was also helpful and efficient. I was in and out in less than half an hour, and Jimmy took some time to realign my GLK's windshield washer fluid tubes after he mentioned he used to work at Mercedes-Benz and I subsequently mentioned the inaccurate windshield washer fluid spray. He also offered to scrape the CA registration off the windshield, which was nice, though cleaning the ugly sticky residue and fingerprints off the windshield would have been an even nicer touch.
The garage is tucked back behind AAA, and the nearby Arby's (on the right if you're driving northbound on McKnight Road) is probably a more obvious reference point. Pull in at AAA and note that you can't really see JOIA from the road, but there are several JOIA signs with arrows. FYI, for those who have vehicles with low-profile tires and nice wheels, the parking lot and area outside the garage has pretty deep gravel; it's not very packed down. No problem for my GLK, but all the gravel may have done some damage to the wheels on my previous vehicle, so even now I tend to be mindful of that kind of stuff.
I'm a details person, and after my appointment I noticed that the 3 items I was given--the pair of inspection stickers on the windshield and 2 different pieces of paper--each indicated a different service/inspection date. Obviously, the dates should all be the same!
Lastly, I should note that my vehicle is a relatively new Certified Pre-Owned vehicle with low mileage, and thus I didn't really have to worry about the inspection resulting in any issues; the vehicle passed the tests with flying colors. Basically, this visit to Jimmy's On-It Automotive was a formality--and an efficient and inexpensive one at that.
