I set a goal for this Spring Training season. Not just to see more games, but to visit each ball park in the Cactus League. So the 2016 season started in Goodyear, AZ for me. I've been to this park before, but it was a cold rainy day and as I recall, they barely played 5 innings.
For the record, I'm a Cubs fan. And for that reason, I will be enjoying each game from the lawn seats.
Goodyear Ballpark is the home of the Reds and the Indians. It's one of the newer facilities and it's still in good condition. Parking ($5) was easy getting in and not too far from the field.
They had a great "All you can eat" special on the menu for just $18. Think of how much you spend on concessions and you know this is a good deal! And the burger was delicious. And they serve Taildragger beer from SaddleMountain Brewery. If you don't know Saddle Mountain, you should!
It was a beautiful day and the game was competitive between the Indians and the Giants. Otherwise, all I could think was, this ballpark needs a fresh paint job to give it some character. It's just so gray. Gray is boring.
Thanks Goodyear, for kicking off my mission this March!
