OK so I will admit the hype kept me at bay. I prefer to wait for the hype to blow over but when it doesn't I'm forced to attend the establishment of said hype. Sometimes I get the hype. Sometimes I wonder who slept with the devil to get the hype. In this case the hype is well founded & the Dbag patrons in full force. Everyone & I mean everyone was everywhere. They were squished in on a Friday night at prime time dinner time on a lovely 110 degree AZ day waiting in every available space inside & out. This is reminiscent of my other hype induced bad service nightmare at another pizza place. Which left me pizza happy but not worth the 2 hour wait. Yes I said 2 hours. While I'm shaking this off all the while standing in front of the "hostess" station. I realize not only did I have a whole moment & came to after said moment to see not one of the 1-2-3 women at the "hostess" station had awknowledged me or my hubs. DE JA freaking VU! My hopes sink to the floor & the only beacon of hope is the bar I can see packed to the gills. I'm hoping they will have a frosty beverage to make it up to my hubs. We... no he, tries like hell to get us a couple of our fave Four Peaks brews for the 40 - 60 minute wait. He returns to me with them & I've lost myself again to a Dbacks game. I'm also doing my best sumo wrestler impression (as lady like as humanly possible) to take up as much space so nobody horns in on my 2 seats I'm stalking. I end up having my small victory & have some Dbag old bag ditch her "undrinkable" martini in a space 2x the space available next to my elbow. I move it & she looks at me like I smell bad (& I don't) vs. saying thanks for moving your elbow. Irritating yes but for the Camelback Corridor it's expected. She was probably a "hostess" in her college days. After her I put my guards that I seem to have lost recently & am perfectly oblivious to the Dbag fraction.
Enter dinner. The bartender was wonderful as a server & bartender. Very attentive & complimentary on the food choices we ordered that he liked. He made the infractions of the Dbag patron & staff disappear. We started out with & something I would highly reccomend the Polipo which was perfection. There was even enough Polipo sauce left over after our Funghi pizza to sop up with the wonderful pizza crust. The meal was ended on a sweet note with the Mixed Berry Zeppole. Just awesome through & through. On a busy busy Friday night the bar service was great, beer was cold, antipasti everything it should be, great pizza & a sweet ending. I will be back to try what I'm sure will promise to be a great meal. When I do return I'm taking a grilfriend & we're going at an off peak time (if there is one) & enjoying myself at a table. I know I'm such a rebel.
