I took in two grimy pairs of flats to get cleaned and they told me that they'd have to replace the insoles at $60 per pair. That seems a little high to me, but fine. They're my favorite work shoes.
I get them back and they're just as scuffed and dirty as when I dropped them off, just with new insoles. The employee behind the counter told me they had been "shined". They didn't look clean or shined at all and he said that "cleaning" them as opposed to "shining' them was more money. I told him I wanted them cleaned and that's why I brought them in in the first place. He told me that I was wrong and that the other employee I had dropped them off with, wouldn't have made that mistake. He was very rude when he didn't have to be.
Silly me for thinking that my dirty shoes would come back to me clean after paying $60 per pair for work done on them. So I'm at home trying to clean my flats myself after paying $120 for them today. Oh, the irony.
I know nothing about the cobbling business so this may very well be my own fault. But the reason I won't be back is the ineffectual boor that was behind the counter. Customer service may not be his thing.
