  • It's hard enough for me to give this place any stars at all.....I had the most disappointing experience here and am still sick over it months later. THESE PEOPLE ARE CROOKS!!!!! An employee of J. Levine, Brenda Wein, came to my home and we filled her van with many valuable items left to me by my late mother and brother. Then she had me sign an electronic machine and when I asked her what I was signing she said it was to receive a list of the items she had taken with her. Instead of a list, I received a contract (which I was never told about) that had my signature on the contract (from when I signed the electronic machine). After the first auction on August 6th on the Internet, I saw my items sell for NOTHING! One item of mine that was appraised was an $11,600 mink fur jacket sold for $400! That's not even with commission being taken out yet, which was at least 35% I also noticed not all of my items that I gave were listed in that auction. Then...without telling me, they brought a select amount of my items to EJs Auction and Consignment (owned by Josh Levine but is their lower-end auction house). I had a set of 63 pieces of Bone China from England which had belonged to my brother who lived there. All 63 pieces sold for $65!!! I began to panic. I then tried asking for certain items back, knowing they would also be sold for nothing. That is when I was informed that I would have to PAY TO GET MY OWN ITEMS BACK!! $100 per lot! That's more than any SINGLE ITEM of mine sold for, besides the fur jacket. Overall, I ended up paying $500 too GET MY OWN ITEMS BACK. I still never received a full list of the items I gave Brenda and was told that the lister was always "unavailable". It makes me wonder if when these items are bid on that someone is bidding for the auction house and J. Levine's can take them and sell them for a higher price elsewhere.. They also don't tell you that the items they choose not to sell will "be taken to a charity of their choice." These people shouldn't even have a license it just makes me sick. I feel that they are taking advantage of people who have lost loved ones and don't want sad memories around the house. It also makes me think that they look through the obituaries to see where their next victim is... I wouldn't wish what happened to me to happen to ANYONE ELSE!
