We woke up Thursday morning on the verge of keeling over from starvation. What better way to cure this than a buffet? My friends were looking through the magazine reading reviews on the various buffets on the strip but I suggested that we go to Bayside at Mandalay Bay. Lunch that day set us back only $19 per head! They had a sign outside that said lunch was $38 which is awfully misleading. I think there would've been a lot more patrons if that sign weren't there. We paid at the kiosks out front and then got in line to be seated.
My meal consisted of:
baked chilean sea bass
paella
cocktail shrimp
squid salad
calamari
potstickers
baked halibut
smoked trout
california rolls
spanish rice
cream of broccoli
tiramisu
soft serve swirly (vanilla & chocolate)
The service could've been a little better but I'm not really going to complain. I was happily satisfied with everything I got. The cocktail shrimp probably stood out the most. They were big, fat, and juicy. My friend and I literally stocked up on a couple bowls each. The worste part of the meal? Probably the cream of broccoli. It looked like oatmeal and I could not detect any hint of broccoli in there. My friend said it tasted like instant cream of broccoli. I had to brush the bowl aside after two sips.
We walked out beyond stuffed. We booked it to our room after so that we could change out of our tight jeans and lounge around in sweats. Not only was I happy with the buffet but I definitely think I ate more than $20 worth. Bayside, we shall meet again.
