| - When I heard we were going to Menchies for dessert the other night, I have to admit I wasn't too excited...when I come to Cleveland, I NEED (yes, need) to have my Mitchell's. Not to mention, I can just get Menchies at home. Anyways, I gave in and we headed to the new Menchies that recently opened.
Upon walking in, we noticed they had tables/chairs both inside and outside, although both were full when we went Saturday night. There was also a lively crowd of teenagers in the parking lot and sidewalk.
The last time I had been was a year or two ago when they opened in Columbus, so I was kind of happy to give it another chance. There were a few flavors I didn't care for, but the ones I did were pretty good. The angel food cake and blackberry were a perfect combination. I filled my cup with a few other flavors, too.
Then came the toppings. Now, I'm not a toppings kind of girl, but with a little peer pressure I covered my froyo with some hot fudge and marshmallow topping...and later thanked my peers for the pressure. It will be hard not to pass down those toppings on my next visit! They have 4 or 5 syrups/sauces in addition to the typical toppings, but you won't find gummybears at this location. Apparently it's only one of 2 kosher locations!
It seems like Menchies has overtaken Cleveland these days. Being that Cleveland is a little behind the times with froyo, I'm sure everybody is happy to get what they can. And after tonight, I can say that this chain is not a bad one to have saturate the city. As a bonus, most of their flavors and toppings are kosher!
