| - I stayed here with my family and a very large sports group for a tournament in town. We had several rooms blocked and booked for our stay.
I realize after we arrive that construction is going on at the hotel. We were not told of this prior to check in! The construction is going on but my complaints are beyond the inconvenience of that. I only found 2 pricey restaurant to visit while staying there along with a heavily marked up Starbucks. I know its Vegas but that Starbucks was ridiculous. Unfortunately it was the only choice I could find other than a steakhouse or a place with a very limited menu.
The check in experience is not good. Self serve kiosk screens hardly work. I scanned my ID 5 times before someone came over and tried. He was as smug as can be too, saying "no no you are doing it wrong". So he does it 3 times with no luck and says "hmmm" and takes my ID to his computer and manually types in my name. Guess it wasn't just me. Others in our group had the same issues checking in. Just bring back the hosted counter and maybe have a couple self check in stations for those who choose to use them.
The casino seems tiny and is way off from Las Vegas Boulevard. The rooms are hideous, and they were newly remodeled. A combination of modern industrial and old granny furnishings clash badly. You have an industrial look with mirrors and tube lighting in the room mixed with a deep wooden round table. 1 upholstered chair for the table as well. No business desk or any other counter space for your things. So if you get room service you have to sit on the bed or scoot the table over to the couch which is lower than the table top. Very uncomfortable. The lack of desk and counters are also very inconvenient. There is plenty of space for one too. The ice bucket is in the closet where you hang your clothes.. why? who knows... unless you want to make drinks next to your clean clothes?? Oh and no mini fridge. This is a major hotel on the Las Vegas Strip. No mini fridge? Feels more like a low budget motel here. Don't get me started on the gross green color they chose for the hotel accents. The only room that looked worthy of Las Vegas strip quality hotel quality was the bathroom.
The strip view rooms are not pretty. I paid more for this experience and got a underwhelming view. You get lots of roof from the casino and then the MGM Grand and backside of NY NY. Rooms facing the back pools look more entertaining.
Other issues we had on our stay was the safe becoming stuck shut. The passcode was correct and wouldn't open. Error codes pop up and we call the front desk, who sends security. The security tech who was condescending and rude, claims the bars were bent in the safe causing it to stick. Really? The bars which keep this safe from being pried open are bending from manual pressure? I don't buy it. Oh and tiny safe. Good for cell phones and maybe sunglasses. Want to store a purse, forget it.
Another issue, housekeeping entered our room while the do not disturb sign was hanging on the door. WTH. Unprofessional and a violation of our privacy. Front desk was unhelpful.
More issues we had besides the noise from the construction was noise from the room next door. We heard a dog barking constantly. Again I call down to the front desk. Their response was "we are not a pet friendly hotel". Well there is a dog barking in the room next door so... They said they would look into it. I had to switch rooms because of the lack of cooperation from the hotel. I also noticed 2 other dogs in the lobby and casino during my stay so I have no idea what this hotel's management is doing. Other rooms in our block had to be moved because of the hallways being filled with smoke from people smoking marijuana in their rooms. Not even kidding.
The hotel has 3 pool that are just that, pools. Nothing glamorous or unique to write about. Pool hours are 10 am to 6 pm. Yeap 6! It literally closes before the sun is down. Again I thought this was Las Vegas! Don't look for that lazy river or wave pool that you may have heard of either.
With all this... No mini bar / fridge, early pool hours, lack of restaurant choices, rude hosting and service, unprofessional housekeeping and security... why did I have to pay $35 per day Resort Fee again??? Rip Off! Parking is $15 a day too.
Very poor opening of this Park MGM in my opinion.
The only thing that may attract guests is the location to the T-Mobile Arena. It's right next door. But I would go for NY NY if you ask me.
I have stayed in numerous of hotels on the strip and have never had such a terrible experience or been so unimpressed. I will not be back here if I can help it.
