| - In search of great eats here in Pittsburgh, we have heard many sing the praises of pierogies, and bookmarked this place as a must stop. My husband and I shared a platter of pierogies that included potato & cheddar, potato & farmer cheese, and kraut and mushroom. They were wonderful and reminded me of ravioli and/or dumplings. My favorite was the potato and cheddar. Gave me a warm fuzzy feeling and sent me into a carb bliss. So if you are a fan of small warm stuffed pockets of pasta, you will enjoy these. Sweet ones are also on the menu, but we will save those for next time. We also shared the Kiszka which is old fashioned blood sausage served fried with onions. Ew, why would anyone eat that?! It sounds vile, and I never would have eaten it had I read the description carefully. But you know what? It was really good! This time ignorance paid off!
No real service here, but the young ladies working behind the window were nice. It's deli style--order at the window, pay, and they call your number when it's ready. A small number of tables are available inside the store where you can also find many polish products, frozen foods (e.g. frozen pierogies) and souvenirs. Overall, an extremely pleasing lunch! We also had our eyes on those potato pancakes, so we may have to come back relatively soon.
