| - The price was great, probably because they didn't pay off my trade
Our initial experience with Equity was great. Our salesperson, Jordan, was very friendly and outgoing as was the finance manager, Robert. They were never pushy. The problems started after we left the lot. I bought the extended warranty, not because they pushed it, but because I wanted it. I was told that if anything went wrong with the car I could just take it to any Ford dealership. I had dealt with and had good experiences with extended warranties, so I knew this was the case. After having the car for a bit, the check engine light came on, so I took it to the dealership. No big deal, I thought. I gave them the extended warranty info and left the car there. I got a call from the dealership and they told me there was a problem with the extended warranty. Well the problem wasn't with the warranty itself, the problem was that Equity had never activated it. I paid for the diagnostic the Ford dealership performed and took the car to Equity. I asked them about the warranty and they said that it takes time to process the paperwork and that they would take care of the problem with my car and reimburse me for the diagnostic. They told me they ordered the part, but after two weeks I still had not heard back from them. I called them a few times over the following week and I was either put on hold and then disconnected or was told that their parts manager, Robert (different one than the finance guy) was not available. When I finally got a hold of Robert, I was told that they were still waiting for the part and that it should be in tomorrow. I got the "tomorrow" line three different times. After a month and a half, I am still waiting, and calling, with no answer.
The second problem I had was that after a month the bank for the car I traded in was calling me to tell me that my payment was late. I checked the account online and it had still not been paid off a month and a half after I traded the car in. Now that account is being hit with late fees and could possibly hit my credit report.
