| - While in the area, looked to Yelp for a new place to try. And so here we are...
THE PLACE: Not hard to find at all. Visible right on Baseline Road as it was in a mini strip mall, but it was closest to the road. Ample parking available. Interior is a nice open space. Simple decor of pictures of the Scandinavian region. The dining area was clean. And the bar looked stocked.
THE SERVICE: We were immediately greeted as we walked through the door and seated wherever we chose. Menus on hand from the server and she asked us for our drink order. She was upfront about items they did not have available and apologized for that, which I really appreciate. There were quite a few she named which included the fish bake which I understand a lot of people really like. Thankfully, not something I was dying to have ;)
THE FOOD: Worth the few minutes wait. On our table were the Pork Scnitzel (Pork loin schnitzel served with porcini mushroom gravy), Seared Gravlax (Swedish cured salmon with house signature shrimp salad and dill mustard sauce) and Captain's Fish (Haddock loin, heavy cream, tomatoes, dill). Each plate came with 3 very small side salads and 1 side dish. Sides we chose were Home Made Cole Slaw, Beet Salad and some greens. Sides, Rosti (potato pancake) and Cous Cous. Each plate with the sides were simply divine. The mushroom gravy for the schnitzel was so good, I imagined just having it with other items I know it would be good with. The Seared Gravlax with the rosti, was just delicious.
If you want to get a taste of Scandinavian cuisine, this is a pretty good place to try. Definitely going back.
TIP: Call ahead if you have a specific item you are craving for to make sure they have it available. Reminder that many of their bake items do take 45 minutes to prepare.
