| - Brand new concept to Charlotte, stopped by this past Sunday afternoon. It is a bar with craft beer and cocktails combined with old-school pinball, arcade games, and console games. There are 2 change machines as all games take quarters. It definitely took me back to my childhood!
Between my husband and I, we played Ms Pac-Man, Taxi pinball, Street Fighter 2, X-Men pinball, Joust, Popeye, a driving game and a shooting/western themed game (sorry, don't remember the names of these last two). Elevated cupholders are found throughout the arcade, so you can easily set your drink down to play. Mostly children were at the front playing console (Nintendo, Super Nintendo etc) games, probably because they are too short to play the regular arcade games. Also noticed a collection of VHS movies, and old-school Nintendo Power magazines on some shelving beside the TV, which was definitely pretty cool to see! Hart's Soda Shop was outside which serves housemade sodas, floats and sundaes but we did not partake. Maybe next time, it definitely piqued our interest!
Since they do not serve food, you will be asked to fill out a membership application and pay the $1 membership fee. I think this is because they do not serve food, and need to obey NC law. Many local beers on draft, and in cans/bottles. I believe this is mostly for adults, but they do allow children during daytime hours when they are open. I highly recommend Abari, and cannot wait to return. Something so different and fun for Charlotte!
