I rented a car on Priceline for a trip in October and paid $420. Nowhere on the Priceline information did it say I would be charged additionally for anything. When I went to pick up the vehicle, customer service agent #54941 at the Phoenix Sky Harbor airport started asking the standard questions, do you want extra insurance, liability insurance etc. I specifically declined all of these and told the agent "I do not want to pay extra or be charged extra for anything". He then offered me a very small SUV to which I replied, I'm pretty sure what I paid for on Priceline was for something bigger. And he said ok well I have this bigger SUV available and I said great. Never once did he mention that he would be charging me an extra $35/day. He got my credit card info for any "incidentals" aka a fraudulent upcharge, and then had me sign an electronic signature box agreeing to "everything we had just gone over". Little did I know I was signing to agree to pay an additional $368 for an "upgraded vehicle" that he did not inform me would cost any extra, essentially doubling my rental car cost. Avis is refusing to refund my money which shows that they foster a culture of fraudulent mistreatment of customers, they support and train their employees to upcharge customers without notifying them of the additional costs, and don't show any respect to customers who have been victim to this mistreatment. I cannot support this unethical business model and I will never be renting from Avis again and I will be disputing this charge on my credit card to ensure they do not receive compensation for blatant fraud.
