  • Since Active Surplus has closed, there are only a few places to get components in Toronto. Though Sayal is way out in Markham, it's well worth the trip. A word of warning, though -- this is NOT really a surplus store. Most of the stuff they sell is new, which is actually a GREAT thing to have in Toronto! For example, they carry important new supplies like quality solder, flux, prototyping boards, bulk new components, plus a ton of other things. Kits, speakers, ICs, the list goes on and on. Yes, some things can be picked up cheaper online from suppliers like Digikey and Mouser, but many things are cheaper here. Plus, shipping stuff like ferric chloride can be expensive, and they have huge jugs of it for sale. I would highly recommend this store to the newbie and the EE alike -- they have a great website that shows their stock. Worth the trip -- you can get here on the TTC alone, as they are just south of Steeles.
