| - It doesn't take long to realize that there are a lot of Midwest transplants living in the valley. It's evident in all the Chicago based restaurants that have a presence to the Cubs fan base at spring training games... But who knew western New York was represented in the mix?
Buffalo to be specific. I don't know as much about the New York - Phoenix connection. But it's both quirky and cool to think that the only Ted's Hot Dogs outside of the state of New York, is in Tempe.
After hearing the ads on the radio forever, I finally visited Ted's for the first time about a year ago. Since then, I've also introduced my sons. And tonight, I was feeling like a kid with a craving for a good ole messy chili dog. As always, I wasn't disappointed.
I have previously enjoyed a variety of their hot dogs and the burger I tried was delicious too. I wanted something different so I chose a jumbo chili and cheese dog. The hot dogs are cooked over charcoal. 'Nuff said. I added chopped onion, mustard and extra chili. The cheese is a cheddar cheese sauce. Perfect for this messy kind of affair!
As always, I chose the excellent hand made onion rings. This side is best shared. They are cut thin and the portion is generous. Trust me, if you like onion rings, you won't be disappointed. Or feel like you got ripped off cause there was five rings in the bag. Finally, I chose the orange cream milkshake for my beverage/dessert. I don't think I've ever tried an orange shake before. It was delicious and refreshing.
Thankfully, Ted's isn't all about hot dogs. There is enough variety to bring me back. Next time, I'll be enjoying either the triple cheeseburger I saw being promoted, or a foot long, or one of their white hots. Thanks Ted's! Now I have to start acting my age again...
