We had a horrible experience at The Heights of Summerlin. Mom was here receiving special care while recovering from surgery. Her wound was seeping thru bandages and she notified nurse at 7pm, and it was not changed until after 11am the next morning. It was all over her clothes and linens. Dangerous and GROSS!! Another huge problem was the extremely poor quality of food. Obviously due to budget, all food was the poorest of quality, processed and over salted. Nothing was edible. She asked for fresh fruit and vegetables and was told that they don't have any. Turns out they couldn't find a vendor. Healthy food is important to recovery, and SHAME on The Heights for treating our elderly with such disregard for their health!!
Even worse, When we started the process to move her, she was told she would have the same problems at Las Ventanas. She was told they don't except Medicare, and also told that they don't have wound care! None of these statements are true! Very disturbing that they would try to scare such a sick lady into staying! I truly worry about the patients that don't have family in town to advocate for them. We moved her to Las Ventanas, and she has been very happy there.
