| - I had a leased Maxima that was coming up for renewal and I went to this dealership (a sister of the dealership that did the original deal) to see about my options.
I'm a smart girl, having purchased or leased more than 15 vehicles thus far in my life and I know the "game" played by dealerships; so I went in letting them know what my bottom line was (which was reasonable) and gave them the option to facilitate the deal.
Pretty simple way of doing business, right?
Well, not to belabor the point, but suffice to say I was blatantly lied to three times about what the deal covered. Each time that I asked a clarifying question the "deal" mysteriously changed -- and each time they had the arrogance to tell me that I must have "misunderstood" the details.
Again, this is not my first rodeo, and I know what I heard. I believe they try to use this tactic to take advantage of less savvy buyers, and they should be ashamed of themselves.
Finally, after the third lie, I went to another Nissan dealership, explained my same "bottom line" option that I had given South Charlotte, and guess what? The new dealership not only made the deal happen, but they did it for less money (a lot less) and even threw in an additional option on the new car that South Charlotte hadn't even dreamed of!
My suggestion to anyone trying to do business with South Charlotte: DO NOT let them force you into the "you have to make a decision today" trick.
You DO NOT have to EVER do that.
They tried FOUR times to get me to commit that same day. When I told them I wasn't prepared to, and would in fact check another dealership, the salesman arrogantly said "go ahead, you won't find a better deal."
Guess what? I did. And I got a MUCH better deal without any lies or lack of respect in the process.
Bottom line is this: use this dealership to get your first quote. Then take the quote elsewhere to do the deal at a much better price and with people that have some modicum of respect for your level of intelligence.
