| - I think, unfortunately, that the mediocre aggregate rating is justified, at least given my experience today. I would rate the service at a 4 and the food at a 2, so that averages out to a 3.
I had a burger and sweet potato fries. First strike against them is the fact that their standard (i.e. white or yellow potato fries) are frozen rather than hand-cut and fresh. I've said this before and I'll repeat it here, unless you're a high school cafeteria, there is no justification for using frozen fries. They are horrible. They are disappointing. They bring down the whole quality of the meal. If you tell me your fries are frozen, I automatically think you don't care about the quality of the food you are serving.
The burger was made in house and it had nice grill char, but it had a couple of strikes against it. 1. It was overcooked and there was no moisture to be found in it. At all. 2. I think they're using too lean beef and packing it fairly tight, so it was pretty dense.
I love a house made burger, but get a fattier blend, don't pack it too tightly, and don't cook it until all the juices are gone. This was honestly a chore to eat despite the nice grill flavour on the outside. Even ketchup and mustard didn't bring enough moisture to this burger to not feel like I was eating the Sahara in burger form.
I don't think I'll be back. Frozen fries and dry burgers don't really justify a repeat visit.
