  • It's bad enough facing a shopping trip, but it's a real drag when a place that is supposed to offer a pleasant shopping experience in exchange for the inflated food prices makes it a place to avoid at all costs. In terms of the grocery specials, the weekly flyers do have a few items worth coming for pretty much every week, and the range of goods and services is fantastic. As for the services themselves, they are definitely not all fantastic, especially the dry cleaning service in the store. I've had items "cleaned" and "repaired" here on several occasions, and I give up trying to get a proper replacement zipper or even a completely cleaned textile back. The location has a Joe Fresh, a bulk food section, a pharmacy, a PCFinancial pavilion, a floral service, fresh meat and fresh fish counters, a specialty cheese kiosk, freshly cut fruit/salad/appetizers/desserts platters kiosk, an Asian food hot table, coffee bar, bakery, regular hot table, and even an optician and eyewear service. The pharmacy is well-run, with a nicely competitive filling fee, and the coffee counter has a wide range of freshly brewed coffees and beverages, although the prices are a bit on the higher end of the scale. As for the hot tables, especially the Asian noodle and sushi bar, and everything else in the store in general, the prices are definitely on the higher end of the of scale. If you need a sushi fix or any Asian grocery items at all, do yourself a favour and head over to the Nations supermarket on the southwest corner of Hwy. 7 and Weston and get those items there (not to mention produce, which is of excellent quality and far better prices there as well). That's all well and good if you are willing to pay for that pleasant shopping experience, but I find that I've had definitively unpleasant experiences here every time when it comes to cashing out. With the exception of one cashier, the pharmacist, and one of the custodial staff, I would inevitably wish I had skipped the convenience factor and gone anywhere else instead. The cashiers are trained to be far more concerned with how many bags you'd like to buy and how to get you to sign up for PC Points than anything else. I used to use this loyalty program to the extent of just collecting a few points for bringing my own bags and a total on my grocery bill, but I just got so sick and tired of staff completely ignoring my dutifully displayed re-usable bags and barking at me to have my individual grocery items analyzed for additional PC Points that I ditched the damn card and this wretched location altogether. I'd always ask that I just get the points on my total, and point out my cloth bags sitting on my groceries when they asked me how many plastic bags I'd like to buy, and then I'd have to brace myself for the inevitable sales pitch on swiping twice to get more points. I'd try to explain that I don't want Big Brother in my pantry and they'd just glare at the third eye they thought was growing out of my forehead, and keep pestering and arguing about swiping twice and don't I understand that it's better for me if I have my grocery list analyzed for additional points. Bless the one cashier Cameron whose check-out I make a bee-line for if I am ever reduced to coming here under the most dire of circumstances. They can't even process a return without making some stupid mess for you to contend with afterwards. I had several items on one bill to refund, dutifully paid for on their beloved PC based program. They had some technical issue with being able to re-create the items for the return, and had to approximate the total amount which left me owing a stupid $0.01 difference on the credit card. Really? It must be costing them $20 in wages and processing to bill me this penny. No wonder they have to charge their inflated prices. Too bad it has nothing to do with a pleasant shopping experience for customers.
