| - I brought my kids over to see the mermaid and Santa underwater yesterday 12/17. Just realized that they have Winter Wonderland outside, the staffs told us that they open at 2pm. Then we went to the admission place at 2pm, they told the people in line that they still need few minutes to set up the equipment. Ok, fine. All we wanted to play was just the snow place. Btw, the admission costs $7.65, by which just for get inside, there were nothing you could play, every activity costs 2-5 tickets for a certain time limit, 1 ticket worth $1. Or $30 for a wristband to play all the activities. I googled it myself online, no signs or staffs had told me by the time we got in.
They let us in at 2:15pm, we were the second place in line. We went to the snow place, the guard there said this costs 5 tickets to go inside and play. Then we walked to the ticket sale, the staff there didn't even have the tickets yet, wait another couple minutes for they to get the tickets. And she didn't know what ages of kids needed to pay to get in. Finally, we got into the snow place, but just a few minutes playing there, some staffs came by and told us that they need 15-20 minutes to finish set up this place. So we walked around to see if there were anything else fun to play.
We went back about 15 minutes later, and just waited there for they to set up the snow place. Till 3pm, my tolerance had died. We walked up to the admission, ask for the person in charge. Wait another 10 minutes for the person to came. I explained the whole thing and pointed out that this place opens at 2pm, he said yes, admission opened at 2pm, but they still need time to set it up. Ok, it opened at 2pm, nothing to play. I asked for money back, he said they don't offer refund. He could only gave me two admission tickets, which I had pay for, and maybe come back another day.
By the time we finished talking, they've finished set up the snow place. It was 3:20, by which they told us 15-20 minutes to set up the place, but it actually took them 1hour. I asked the kids if they still wanted to go inside. They said yes. So I handed back the admission tickets.
I totally understood the windy weather condition for safety issue, they should let their customers know it in the first place, not just have us waiting forever. The staffs there were unprofessional, had no knowledge of what they were doing and need to do.
I made a couple searches after I came home, found out that they actually open at 4pm. I didn't get it why they let people in at 2pm, and just have people wait there for they to set up the equipments.
I have nothing against Silverton Casino, its mermaid show is one of the best free event in Vegas for benefiting the locals. But this Wonderland event...
