So I ordered the choose your own sammies plate with onion rings and an ice tea. I asked for 2 sammies to be brisket and 1 to be pulled pork. The decor and atmosphere is that of a place you would find next to an old school barber shop in da hood or in the south anywhere. I definitely like the atmosphere. They were having a book signing and radio show while I was there.
When I received my meal they gave me 2 pulled pork and 1 brisket. Not a big deal so I just let it be. 1st up the pulled pork. It was ok. Not exciting but not bad either. Just meat, bread and bbq sauce. Bread was good. But the pork was average. Could have used something on the sandwich to stand out. Next up was the brisket. It was better than the pork but again just a little boring. Then the onion rings. These were actually pretty great. Nice crisp and some seasoning that was really good. I also decided to have the sweet potato pie. It too was really good. It seemed that items that should've been the star were no more than average. The sides I had though were really good. Kind of pricey for what you get.
Service was just ok. The young lady was the best and she wasn't even my server. Otherwise I was ignored.
Overall it was just ok.
