| - The most awkward boarding experience I've ever had.
We had last minute change of plans for an overnight out of town trip, and our usual friends and rovers couldn't watch our pup. I live very close to adventure, and online it seemed pretty nice, so we decided to give it a try.
My puppy however is still intact and over 8months so they said on the phone he would not be able to play with the others. Completely understandable. They then said they were sold out of standard rooms, but had a special where I could get the $100 room for $75 - which had its own patio, and he would still be rotated to larger playing area for some exercise. Sounded reasonable so I booked it.
Arrived about an hour later to drop my puppy off. Place looked cute, clean and you could see happy little dogs running around the front play area. But, this was the only part of the place we saw. The guy behind the counter was devoid of personality, information and courtesy. He basically sat there looking at us until we spoke saying we had a reservation, and he prepared paperwork for us to sign. A second man came from the back, and with a smile to our dog said "I'll take him back", grabbed his food and toys and disappeared. That was it.
Knowing it was our first time, we were offered no tour, we were unable to see his room or say bye. They seemed completely disinterested in easing our worries, showing off their facility or retaining our business. We left slightly in shock.
Twenty-six hours later we returned to pick him up. Again, devoid of charisma, concern or a smile the gentleman informed us that we had to pay for two additional hours (understandable, but never explained to us). A third gentleman then shortly returned with our little guy and handed us his leash and bag of food etc. without a word. Feeling a little more of my oats, I decided to do his job for him and asked "how was he?", and a little annoyed he replied "he was fine, except for chewing up his bed".
When we got home, we realized that they had only given him a couple inches of his bully stick and it appeared none of his other treats/toys - so the bed being chewed was a little understandable for a puppy.
Overall we were both very surprised with the lack of customer service. No one seemed interested in our puppy, making us feel comfortable, showing any pride in their facility or retaining our business- all key traits I would anticipate from anyone working with animals.
The second star is for the small part of the facility we saw, which was clean and nice. But overall each rover we have used is better, cheaper and sends pics. No comparison.
