| - I fell in love with a shiny new Kitchenaid refrigerator at a big box store but couldn't justify the almost $4K price -- because, seriously? It's a refrigerator. It doesn't have to be sexy. It just has to keep my food reasonably cold (which my deader-then-dead LG wasn't doing, after all of two years' use). So I resolved to be practical and wrote the Kitchenaid off as a "maybe, some day, possibly after I win the lottery and can afford to pay a premium for a refrigerator that looks just like Darth Vader." Then I stumbled across Arizona Discount Appliance and, lo and behold: the exact same model with a tiny dent on the side -- literally invisible in my kitchen! -- for 40% off list price and the satisfaction of buying local.
Service was excellent. Erik was professional, personable, knew his stuff, and was careful to make sure we felt supported but not pressured (even when we upsold ourselves on the matching range). He also put up with my paralyzing indecision, which is so annoying I frequently irritate myself.
Delivery, set-up and haul away were available for a very fair fee. To be honest, I'm not sure if this was handled in house or subcontracted. Either way, the gentlemen who came out were nothing short of wonderful. Professional, hardworking and polite, they took meticulous care of the incoming appliances as well as the furniture and cabinets they had to maneuver around. They even took the time to ask about any pets in the house so they wouldn't inadvertantly let someone escape.
All in all, a truly excellent experience I would never have imagined from a simple Craigslist ad.
