| - First time I've been moved to do this. The staff here is very friendly and helpful except for the pool staff.
In short, the pool hours fluctuate constantly. As a member you are not a priority at all. The local swim club/swim team is the priority and you get to share, if you are lucky, one or two smaller swim lanes. The pool will be closed to you on random days for no reason, and hours they were previously open just disappear completely such as in high school swim season. They really screwed up my routine. Pool staff and front desk do not communicate, and the facility hours in general are far too limited unless you are a retiree, which is the bulk of the clientele. It's not very crowded, older crowd, some Air Force folks and others. Friendly people who offer advice, which was a positive. Without easy, regular access to the pool though, this is a wildly overpriced gym about 50 per month single and maybe double that for a family and I just can't get passed the ridiculously limited hours.
The pool staff also made my daughter pass the swim test like three times. They keep no records of her actually passing and harass her every time she wants to swim.
Beyond that, I left my ipod on the treadmill one day, it got turned in to lost and found, and apparently someone, likely a staff member, stole it out of there. That really upset me. In fairness, I left things before and they were pretty helpful at helping me retrieve them. Again, the non pool staff is really great.
More annoyingly, they aren't very good at breaking up. After my ipod incident, and when the staff told me the pool was open to 8:30 and I walked out at 8 and it was closed, I gave my notice. They told me initially I needed to give 30 days notice. Fair enough. Since I had just paid my bill, they wanted me to pay the next one in full and not pro-rate the few extra days past the billing cycle, so I thought that was really deceptive. Thirty days notice turned into 55 and I'm still arguing with them about this.
I visited Lifetime nearby and it is open 24/7 has towel service, hot tubs, steam room, basketball courts and other stuff for like 5 dollar more per month. There is simply no comparison. Wish I quit sooner and went to Lifetime. If I ever get out of this membership I will. Can't come soon enough.
