  • These days I tend to avoid most buffets (especially the big ones) but tonight me and my buddies decided to hit it up and live on the ritz (at least quantity wise) Grey Eagle casino buffet! I have only ever eaten at this place on fridays so consider this a friday review (every night is a little different i hear ). I went today and I must say it was rather mediocre. Like most buffets you must always scope out the items that seem to have a bit more effort put into the preparation and avoid the sometimes un eatable foods that are presented in the massive bounty. Usually seafood items and some of the desserts and salads are just plain terrible, but thats the way buffets work after all! its the trough mentality, so one must always keep that in mind hahahaha after all some kids in africa would view this kind of eating experience as a feast for only the highest of royalty! so i mean we are pretty lucky to be able to go to place like this right??? hahaha. The roast beef is almost always a safe bet. Also some of the other meat items are pretty decent (things like Lamb stew, pork chops. breaded chicken, "veal" parm, sweet and sour pork, basa fillets etc... its good enough but never beyond its hotel pan presentation. The vegetable selection is quite decent ,normal salad bar, cooked beans, carrots etc and of course starches like mashed potatoes and rice(converted rice :s) and also a bread station If the service is fine, (though everyone that works the service looks like they are struggling to enjoy their job haha) its just all mediocre fill you up and back to gambling kind of food, probably a lot like the standard buffets that littered vegas before they really started to up the quality of some of their buffets, (think 80's buffet hahaha). I wanna stress I am sure I will go back again, not because I love it but because its good half decent food that will fill my belly, and sometimes thats all one wants and needs, however I would say that it is painfully obvious that the ones cooking the food have very little passion doing so for the buffet, at least overall thats what it taste like to me. I am a former buffet addict, tonight was an occasional weekend bender... I have to give an honorable mention to the chocolate fountain, it may hit the spot for your average coco lover and sometimes when your lucky, the fruit they provide for you to dip in it is actually ripe! kind of the luck of the draw, or the roulette wheelhahaha ! I should say though that when you dip unripe fruit into chocolate and oil it actually kind of mask the fact the fruit is not yet at its optimal eating state! I feel like I want to give this place a 2 simply because it does not have any one special really good item but it still satisfies to a certain level. Lets say I am a teacher and Grey eagle buffet is a student. Grey is one of those students who tries just hard enough to get by, but still short changes himself because quite frankly he knows will be fine and scott free! he knows all the teacher can do to him do is tell him, "do your homework and practice, practice practice!" he is gonna get his diploma anyway! why bother with the extra effort? quite frankly he would rather be playing Halo 3 all day than bother with that!!! and his parents just don't care! Try it out sometime, its a throwback casino buffet, and thats all you should expect i am gonna give it a 2, thats all It deserves! hahahaha sorry grey eagle but my patience with you is running out...
