  • You need to have two different expectations when visiting Sloth Records: as buyer and as trader. As a buyer, it is a mecca. Tons of records, usually at reasonable prices (often quite lower than Melodiya down the road), with a fairly decent selection of used records, and an extensive local selection. Their CDs are overpriced, most often higher than even HMV, and they are kept out of the cases - not my ideal way to purchase them, and I still haven't done so. As trader, they play hardball: brought in two, brand-new DJ Kicks albums on virgin vinyl, and got 10 bucks credit...for both! Not the best value for those gems, but what can you do I guess. A good location upstairs, good music on the speakers, but almost zero customer service, you need to seek that out yourself. Good for the new vinyl, mediocre for everything else.
