| - Please read this review in parts (because it is really important to look at ALL aspects of a gym to understand what you're getting yourself in to):
Membership: 5* Like other reviewers, I came over from Smart Gym, and my transition was as seamless as I could expect. EVERY gym has membership/billing/pricing issues. EVERY large club is going to charge you an annual maintenance fee (Smart Gym did too, and they were a small company). When a club sells their membership, it takes a while to get the billing straight. If you want to cancel, you have to be ready to go in multiple times, ask for the Manager, wait for your time with them, and get it cancelled. If that doesn't work, ask for the GM. They understand it wasn't your choice, so get to the right person to get it handled.
Staff: 5* Every staff member I have encountered has been wonderful to both me and my kids. The trainers take the time to talk to my kids, even though they're trying to get work done. Tera at the front desk is amazing. If you have an issue during a weekday, go to Tera and she will get it resolved.
Weight Equipment/Classes: 2* The equipment is old, a lot of things are often "Temporarily out of order" - although I have seen a few things replaced recently, and (during the times I lift, it is rarely without a wait to get onto a weight bench or cables. That being said, I am lifting just like a lot of members there at the same time - they have a lot of BIG lifters from the old Gold's Gym days. If you are looking for a regular lifting gym, I would NOT recommend this club if your workout times are weekday evenings and/or Saturday morning. The group classes are very diverse, there always seems to be room for more people, and those who do group classes really seem to like them. They could also stand for some additional "open area" as it is usually full of people doing cardio/"cross fit"-type work. HOWEVER, if you can't find the cardio machine you want on the floor, go into the "EoS Cinema" - the movie-theater room where they put on a popular movie and there is always an open machine (it also stays much cooler in there than on the gym floor).
Locker Room: 4* I have never felt "crowded" when using the locker room in the mornings before work. However, the shower stalls are small and there are not enough toilets if/when it DOES get busy in there.
Overall, I will recommend EoS Scottsdale if you are not heavy into lifting during "peak" gym hours - The 2* loss is entirely because of that. Once EoS finally opens over by PV Mall, I will be moving to that club as it is closer to my house, not because this is a "Bad" club.
