It puzzles me why everyone raves so much about this area. Sure, it's a nice recycling of historical building with some interesting outdoor art. Pleasant for a stroll if you are in the area, with a possible stop or a bite to eat or to see something else nearby. There are some interesting shops, but for the most part they are overpriced. What this should have been was an area completely dedicated to artisan shops and galleries - no factory merchandise. There are several of these but the quality does not compare with elsewhere and evidently they do not attract enough buyers to stand on their own without the addition of mass merchandise and of course, beer.
High prices would be justified if they shops were all truly galleries and craft shops with unique merchandise, but alas, they are not. Most of it is simply another come-on which is so typical of this city - grandiose ideas toned down by mediocrity in execution.
