| - Tucked away in the Manulife Centre, the Varsity thankfully hasn't been done over with all sorts of gaudy decor like the newer movie theatres. It also tends not to have the rowdier crowds that go with them.
That said, its screens aren't all that impressive (a bit small and without stadium seating, for instance) by "modern" standards, though the sound, as far as I can tell, is fine. For the regular Varsity screens, I would give three stars.
What really makes the Varsity stand out is the VIP section: for a few extra bucks, you can see a movie (often the best one currently playing) in a more intimate, "screening-room" theatre, with bigger seats, little tables for your snacks, etc. It's an effortless way to class up a movie date.
